The Southern C Summit Giveaway

Here’s the skinny- The Southern C is The Social Network for the South. An online community where members chat about all aspects of the South: tradition, family, fashion, food… You get the idea. As a member of their C-Team, I’m giving away a free ticket to one of my lucky readers to the next summit event in the Music City- Nasvhville, Tennessee!

The first summit was in my hometown backyard of Jekyll Island; the second in the Classic City: Athens, Georgia where I lived for several years. Both were fantastic- a great blend of work and play with learning sessions, networking, cocktail parties, and even live music. Now that I’m living outside the South, I feel even more excited about #tscsummit Nashville because I get to return to the South and explore a new town!

5. I’ve gotten pretty attached to my home-base of Athens, Georgia these past three years. I’m so excited to share the Classic City with people from all over the South and beyond for this event!

Can’t wait to hear from this panel of experts: Southern Living Executive Food Editor Hunter Lewis with Executive Chef of Farm 255 and season 9 Top Chef contestant, Whitney Otawka, Holeman and Finch Public House Partner and James Beard Foundation Awards “Outstanding Bar Program” semifinalist, Greg Best and Food and Wine’s Best New Chef: Southeast Peter Dale of The National. Not to mention delicious food and drink provided by the Southern Living Test Kitchen, Epting Events, Cathead Vodka, and Charred Oak Spirits!

2. New Speakers

I’m so excited to see Shakeeka Ayers speak this go ’round! I’ve enjoyed following her sweet and sassy posts for a while now and can’t wait to hear her story. Her session is entitled- Everything I Needed To Know About Building My Brand, I Learned From The Kardashians (Yes, Those Kardashians…). Love it.

Friday Five #10

It’s National Ice Cream Month people so here are a few of my favorite scoops.

5. Working Cow– Florida

Fav Flavor-Cappucino kahlua. Cappa Kahlua with sweet chocolate chips, and a chocolate swirl blended into our natural coffee flavored ice cream….Oh Yea

4. King of Pops– Atlanta/Athens, Georgia

Not technically ice cream but DELICIOUS! Chocolate Sea Salt and Coconut Lemongrass are my late night vices.

3. Honeysuckle Gelato– Atlanta, Georgia

All of their flavors are incredible but the Mango-Peach blew my mind.

2. Hand Spun Milkshake- from an old school soda fountain

During our summer vacation, my grandmother loved to treat us to a milk shake from the old soda fountain Gilcrist in Mountain Brook Village. Chocolate of course.

1. High Road Craft Ice Cream

I first discovered High Road at Heirloom Cafe in Athens, Georgia. I saw them again at Food Blog South in January…yes it was freezing outside but sample cups of Aztec Chocolate and Vanilla Fleur de Sel seemed like a necessity at the time. To my surprise and delight they were featured at the first Southern C Summit event on Jekyll Island at the oceanside beach luncheon. I have loved every flavor I’ve tried from them and can’t wait to see what flavors they create next! Fav High Road Flavor so far- Sweet Pea and Mint Sorbet. So unbelievably refreshing, sweet, and herbal- makes the perfect ending to a summer meal.
